N-Deck, also known as deep rib, has a rib profile that allows this type of roof deck to span longer distances between roofing supports. Finishes for 3″ N-Deck include G60 Galvanized, G90 Galvanized, Prime Painted Gray or White Bottom, and Galvanized with a Prime Painted Gray or White Bottom.
Engineers will often chose N-Deck over structural beams in large open structures such as industrial warehouses and schools. This system is a valid alternate to open web steel joists and B-Deck which has seen higher prices and lead times as of recent.
N-Deck Finishes
Prime Painted N-Deck Finish
A grey prime painted over bare bare steel is an excellent option being the most affordable finish available for N-Deck metal roof deck. The prime painted finish often provides a suitable temporary protection to the base metal during construction while also protecting the base steel in a properly closed and dry interior environment.
Galvanized N-Deck Finish
A galvanized coating in G60 or G90 is usually recommended when working in aggressive interior environment. A galvanized finish is also required when there’s a greater corrosion during construction.
Galvanized/Painted Finish
For longer term protection with a painted finish, a G30 or G60 Galvanized based and painted white or gray bottom is recommended where the deck is exposed to humidity or corrosion.
When to Use N-Deck
The N-Deck deep 3″ profile is able to allow for a lighter gauge, due to its structural strength. Having a narrow width of the ribs allows for ease of installation while laying of insulation.
N-Deck is a lightweight and easy-to-install roof deck that’s typically used for applications in roof, canopies, and awning construction. The N-Deck supports construction spans from 1 foot to 20 feet or more in distance, varying upon the gauge and back-span condition that could be single, double or triple.
