As the demand for state-of-the-art educational facilities grows, CSM Metal Deck emerged as a key player in elevating the construction of Groves and Port Neches Elementary schools. This case study showcases CSM Metal Deck’s role in supplying over 235,000 square feet of 22-gauge B-Deck vented for lightweight concrete roof applications.
In April 2021, concurrent construction of Groves and Port Neches Elementary schools began, aiming to create modern, efficient, and innovative educational environments. These identical two-story schools, each spanning approximately 106,000 square feet, were designed by VLK Architects to accommodate students from grades three through five.
The project included critical features such as a media library, cafeteria, gymnasium, computer lab, specialized science and art instruction areas, and a fully self-sustaining special education wing, with the capacity to support 750 students. The schools were scheduled to be completed in time for the 2022-23 school year.
The project presented significant challenges in terms of construction efficiency and meeting the tight timeline, given the need for a specialized lightweight concrete roof. High-quality metal decking was essential to meet these challenges and ensure the long-term durability and safety of the schools.
CSM Metal Deck, renowned for its commitment to quality and precision, was selected to supply over 235,000 square feet of 22-gauge B-Deck vented for the lightweight concrete roof application. The roofing contractor, Nettles Construction Solutions, collaborated closely with CSM Metal Deck to ensure a seamless integration of metal decking into the construction process.
The expert coordination between CSM Metal Deck and Nettles Construction Solutions ensured that both Groves and Port Neches Elementary schools received the high-quality materials necessary for the construction of their lightweight concrete roofs. This critical phase of the project was executed with precision and met the demanding timeline for both schools.
CSM Metal Deck’s commitment to quality and collaboration with Nettles Construction Solutions played an instrumental role in the successful construction of the Groves and Port Neches Elementary schools. These educational facilities, designed to foster learning and growth, now stand as a testament to the importance of reliable partners in the construction industry.
